The CHCA Difference

Our desire is to help parents provide a vigorous and theologically rich, college-ready education, and instill love for truth, worship, and neighbors in our students.  We aim to cultivate lifelong learners to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.

We partner with parents to disciple students and equip them with the skills to appreciate excellence, persevere in the faith, and practice a life of virtue as servant leaders.

Our Core Distinctives

Worldview

We train students to develop a strong moral imagination, to think and listen with discernment, to reason and communicate persuasively, and to passionately and purposefully evaluate all human knowledge based on the truth revealed in Scripture.

Habits

We cultivate students who pursue a lifelong love of learning by training the body, mind, and spirit in the rhythms of a virtuous, well-ordered life with Christ at the center.

Scholé

Scholé (skoh-lay) is a Greek word that means leisure or rest. We embrace interconnected learning rooted in leisure and joy, centered in truth, and steeped in memory, celebration, and sanctity.

Pedagogy

We cultivate a spirit of creative inquiry by drawing from Poetic Knowledge (wonder + love), and using both Mimetic (imitation + curiosity) and Socratic (discussion + narration) pedagogical methods.  Students will tangibly engage with living books, stories, and source material led by teachers who possess a passion for their subject and a love for their students.

Student Role

Parent Role

It is imperative that parents and Mentor-Teachers forge partnerships for success.  Parents agree to help support each student to complete their corework, provide learning support, understand the scope and sequence for each course, and attend parent course training which is vital to creating a superior learning environment and full participation.

Mentor-Teacher Role

Our Mentor-Teachers are fellow homeschooling parents or contracted professionals who are are passionate in their field of interest and dedicated to seeking ways to improve their craft. They are expected to teach content to the class, develop skills, and communicate with parents about their child’s assignments and performance. Our Mentor-Teachers are committed to grow in their understanding of scholé practices and Christian classical traditions.
